Infectious- Week 7

Role Models. We all have them. They are individuals that impact your life in some shape or form. One of my role models is my high school agricultural teacher. The high school agricultural teacher at State College is Mr. Heasley. He is a veteran teacher that is full of knowledge and wisdom. Mr. Heasley and I have had conversations throughout my Teach Ag Journey! He once mentioned to me, "FUN is infectious!" I never understood what he meant until this week of student teaching.

This week was National FFA Week! Cowanesque FFA showed there spirit with the weekly agenda:

Monday- Boots & Flannel Day

Tuesday- Tractor Day

Wednesday- Official Dress Day

Thursday- Carhart Day (School Cancelled)

Friday- Cowanesque FFA Apparel Day & FFA Dance @7pm

I would like to highlight Friday! The Cowanesque FFA held a dance to end this weeks celebration. The payment for the dance was that each student was asked to bring five canned food items. The canned food items are being donated to food bank with the help from our FFA Alumni Association. FFA members understand the meaning "Learning to do, doing to earn, earning to live, and living to serve."

Aside from it being National FFA Week I got the chance to talk with my students. In this group discussion the students once again asked, "Ms. Wasson when are leaving us?" I once again gave my same response, "April 20th, 2018 is my last day student teaching." My group of students said, "please, don't go!" Why? "Your classes are so much fun. And we are actually learning something."

FUN! I now understand what Mr. Heasley meant when he told me that "Fun is infectious!" I have 54 days left at Cowanesque Valley High School agricultural program to continue to make my students learning experience fun. I plan to do this by incorporating more group projects, labs, discussions, and many more new forms of social and cultural experiences.
