Unit Plan Reflection

After writing my first unit plan I reflect back to all the time I put into creating it. However, I realize that I should have put more time into it after receiving some appreciated feedback from my peers. Although I found some feedback frustrating I understand now that from my first attempt of a unit plan that I learned a lot. A few things that I learned are listed below:

Feedback in Necessary- Most people that know me, know that I like to keep things short and simple. I found the feedback on expanding my thoughts extremely helpful when creating my unit plan. It pushed my to explore more into my thoughts and how my units would effect my lessons, and how my lessons would effect my students in the future.

Manage Time- If you know me, you also know I like to put things off till last minute. Sometimes I feel that pressure helps me get things down. However, it does not always allow me to get things done right. After getting a second look at my unit plan I realized there was room for improvement in areas that my peers pointed out. In the future I will take more time to get things done right on my unit plans. After all time is key.

Find a Positive- Although I like to keep things short and simple, or wait till last minute there were some positives in my first unit plan. Without looking at the rubric I met a lot of the requirements the first time. This positive makes me excited to write more lesson plans in the future because even though the first time is not perfect, there are still good things to come from a first draft of a unit plan.

  1. I completely agree. It is hard for me to really think about what I want to put into my plans. Way to put your positive thought last.

  2. Heather, efficient time management and the ability to receive, digest, and implement feedback are things that will get better with time and practice. Breaking complex projects like unit plans into pieces and knocking out one or two a day helps to make it a more manageable task. Keep your positive focus and your next one will be even better!
