IBI Lab Reflection
I have never been a person who loves science. In fact it is my least favorite subject. I probably should not admit to that considering biology and chemistry are a big part of agriculture, but it's the truth. My dislike towards science started in high school and transitioned to college. My problem with science is that a simple thing like a hypothesis or a lab report are different with every educator you meet. I have learned well over ten different ways to write a hypothesis throughout my education. Because of the way I feel about science I find inquiry based learning difficult. It has made it hard for me as a student and a teacher to be engaged in this type of learning.
I failed at meeting inquiry based instruction in my lesson for this weeks lab. I did not meet the requirements because I tried to not make the lesson science centered or hard. I tried to make it fun. This is definitely something I need to work on. Science is my weakness, but is something I want to grow in. I want to be able to find a way to make science understandable and fun!

Don't be so hard on yourself!! While science may not be your favorite subject, you will get it! "You don't really know it until you teach it". Remember that and you will do just fine!!

ReplyDeleteHeather, IBI doesn't necessarily have to be science based or hard! It can be incorporated into pretty much any subject as long as it promotes critical thinking and the use of inquiry. Don't be so hard on yourself! Can you share some of the things that went well with this lesson?
