SAE Visits

The National FFA Organization states that The Agriculture Education Mission is to prepare students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources systems. Agriculture education instruction is delivered through the three circle model. This model provides students with opportunity for leadership development, personal growth and career success in:

1. Classroom Instruction
2. Student Leadership Organizations (FFA)
3. Supervised Agricultural Experience programs (SAE)

Supervised Agricultural Experience is a key component in the success of an agriculture student. There are 6 different SAE types: ownership/ entrepreneurship, placement/ internship, research, exploratory, school-based enterprise, and service learning.  After attending a few visits with the advisors of the West Perry FFA I learned the value of SAE and how it fits into the three circle model. The few visits I got to attend were ownership/ entrepreneurship. One experience was based around horse training and competition. The other experience was based around a growing garden (raised beds.).

A Supervised Agriculture Experience can give a student a chance to explore agriculture in ways they never have had the opportunity, it could give a student the chance to expand and grow on knowledge and develop. I realized both these are valuable opportunities for students.

  1. Heather,
This blog post does not meet the expectations of the assignment ; thus will not be accepted to fulfill that requirement.

Feel free to schedule a meeting to meet with to discuss more in depth if you are unaware of why this is an unacceptable submission. I would be glad to help.

I might suggest you look at the SAE visit posts by your peers as well.
