Student Teacher Visit- Ms. Fisher

"Today is an opportunity to get better, so don't waste it." This quote is something I have reminded myself about throughout my student teaching experience. Today, I was given the opportunity to grow and expand on agriculture programs. I have been blessed with multiple opportunities to experience different agriculture education programs across the nation and Pennsylvania. During these opportunities I have been presented different perspectives and innovations on classroom instruction and management.

On April 6th, 2018 I got in the car and took a trip down to Sellinsgrove, Pennsylvania. Here I got to visit with another student teacher, Ms. Macy Fisher at Sellinsgrove High School. It was an amazing opportunity see Macy's talents in action!I was able to observe three of Macy's classes and her Parliamentary Procedure team. I observed her Ag Construction, Ag Fundamentals, and Ag Leadership class.

As I observed Macy I took down notes and found the following as my take aways:

  • Classroom Management: Macy has an amazing presence in the classroom! Her students are excited to be in her classroom and are willing to do any work she assigns them. I feel this is because of the connection she has with her students. From time to time Macy and her students would joke around with each other. Having a positive and upbeat attitude is one thing Macy's students will remember about her after she finishing her student teaching at Sellinsgrove High School.
  • Classroom Instruction: Macy utilizes different technologies and strategies throughout her lessons. She does this by incorporating 1:1 activities and presentations in the classroom/ laboratory.
  • Teach Ag Community: There are two agriculture teachers at Sellinsgrove High School, Mrs. Fry and Mr. Swineford. These two are amazing resources and are committed to give each student every opportunity in their program. They have provided Macy with guidance throughout her student teaching experience. With the few hours I spent with Mrs. Fry and Mr. Swineford I feel Macy is in great hands.
After spending the day with Macy I am excited to see where her future takes her. I believe she will be an amazing agricultural science teacher one day, and impact students lives.
