"New" School - National FFA Convention Week

Instead of going to National FFA Convention in Indiana with the rest of my cohort members I found myself preparing for my first day of school. The first day of school in a new area can be scary and that is exactly how I felt today. However, after arriving to my "new" school my worries seemed to disappear. During the week of October 23rd -27th I have the privilege of going two hours north from Penn State University to engage and observe learning in a small quaint town called Westfield, Pennsylvania. In this town is Cowanesque Valley High School. Cowanesque Valley High School is the home of the Indians, but also home to many veteran teachers like Mr. Martin Heyler and Mr. Andrew Boyer.
Mr. Heyler has been teaching agriculture for 37 years and Mr. Boyer has been teaching agriculture for 19 years. I am excited to be in the presents of two amazing teachers for the coming week! Between the two, they each teach a diversity of classes throughout the day. Mr. Heyler is shop focused, while Mr. Boyer is production focused in their classes.
Mr. Heyler teaches Agricultural Mechanics I, Metal II, Metal I, and Power Mechanics I & II for the current semester. Mr. Boyer teaches two Agricultural Science, Horticulture I, Animal Science, and Forestry this semester. These two are a dynamic duo for the Cowanesque Valley Agricultural Program. They are very positive to the students and passionate about what they are teaching every day.

I feel that it is an honor to be in the presents of both these teachers for the coming week. I am excited to see both their teaching styles and learn more about the Cowanesque Valley Agricultural Program. Wish me luck!

  1. Heather, I am so happy that you found the right program for your student teaching internship. It sounds like this school will be the ideal place for you to grow and thrive, and you will have great mentors!
